Dirt for Sale

When we lived at 595 Farnsworth in Idaho Falls, Megan and I became little entrepreneurs. One day we decided that we needed more money and so we went into business together. We didn't have much in the way of assets, but there was this great pile of dirt in between the bushes in the front yard.

We got our markers and some paper and made signs: "Dirt for sale 10¢" As cars drove by we would wave and yell, "Come buy some dirt!" It wasn't long before it had begun to rain, but we were as determined as ever to sell some dirt. The marker on our sign was running, and our product was rapidly becoming mud, but we weren't discouraged. We started singing songs about our fledgling business, "It's raining, but we don't care. We'll just sell our dirt in the rain. Selling dirt in the rain, selling dirt in the rain, we love selling dirt in the rain."

We didn't sell any dirt, and when Mom found out what we were doing she made us put the dirt back between the bushes and come inside. Our business had to declare bankruptcy, but the owners went inside with giant smiles.
