Avalanche: Version 2

Ben did a good job of telling the Avalanche story, but he was wrong. All of us kids were there. I may not have the full correct story; I know that my memory isn't as good as Ben's, but I do know that I was there.

I think that mom was doing the laundry and had put it on the top bunk. For some reason we all got up on there and were just talking and having fun. I was sitting at the head of the bed in the corner, and Kendra was next to me at the head.

I have always been a little spacey, so I was looking around and noticed that the head board and the wall were parting. I was too scared and flustered to make an audible sentence, so I tapped Kendra and pointed at the wall. Kendra is quite a bit more vocal than me, and was able to verbalize that the bed was collapsing. Ben told the collapsing part perfectly; it seemed to go in slow motion, but just not slow enough for us to jump off.

I don't remember what our parents were doing, but we all scattered and pretended that nothing had happened. I don't remember how we were punished, probably a stern scolding, but I do remember that from then on Emmy and I had to share the bed that hadn't been turned into a V.
