Hippie Flowers
I remember moving into the farm house in Gilberts. I hated it and Meg and Kendra had worked so hard to clean it up. It was just not the most desirable house. The outside environment was wonderful with the pond and trees and feeling of seclusion, but the house... bedrooms painted hot pink, orange, and green, shag carpet with big hippie flowers in it. It needed a lot of work!
Well, the kids were great. We painted, pulled off wallpaper, refinished doors and counter tops. It took forever to get the orange rust stains out of the sinks and tubs, and then was a constant effort to keep them from turning orange again. That furnace never did work right, Daddy even hated it. I remember once going down to restart it and seeing more used matches than unused matches. Then the mice that got in our storage boxes and ate Dad's uniforms.
Well, that house made me appreciate more other places that we have lived. I think that the view out the window made it bearable. I guess we all have things to learn, and I needed to learn to go with the flow, like my family. You guys were great and made the most of it. I have been blessed with a wonderful family!!!
